Fashion Retailers take digital route to compete with E tailers

New Delhi, 14th Feb, 2015: What if clothing stores were more like websites, remembering everything you’ve tried on, passed over or purchased—and let you submit requests via a touch screen? What would be the ideal way of shopping that would not exhaust the customers?

Customers can skip standing in a never ending ques and save their time by just clicking. They can browse the aisles the old-fashioned way, or swipe through the store’s inventory. Rather than lugging an armful of clothes to the dressing room, you simply tap the items you want to try on. And now when the sale season is on people are saving lot of time using the touch screen to select the clothes.

Technology is taking time to catch on with shoppers. With the touch screen store options, brands are all geared up to compete with the e commerce players. Retailers are turning to startups like Shopsense, torchsight and others with innovative technologies to take on e-tailers. Llifestyle retailers too are integrating new age technologies to give customers a better shopping experience.

Shopsense offers the ease of online shopping in stores. It installs large touchscreens connected with the in fashion retail stores for customers to visualise what different clothing combinations are going to look like; for instance, in clothing chain Being Human, these digital visualisations are tried out on Salman Khan, the actor who owns the chain. Today, Shopsense can be found in 45 stores across the country, where 35 per cent customers use the device and end up spending 35 per cent more than average customers..
