Snapdeal sees 10x increase in sales during GOSF 2013

New Delhi, India, December 14, 2013: Snapdeal.com, India’s online marketplace, saw a 10x spike in sales as compared to last year on the first two days of the Great Online Shopping Festival 2013. As part of GOSF 2013, customers can avail discounts of upto 70% across various categories such as Fashion, Entertainment, Electronics, Home Decor etc. on Snapdeal.com. On the first two days of this three days online shopping festival – 11th & 12th December 2013, Snapdeal.com saw increase in the sales. More than 70% of the 20000+ Snapdeal sellers participated in the GOSF 2013.

While in 2012, during the GOSF majority of the sales came from Metro cities at 66% followed by Tier 1 cities at 17%, Tier 2 at 9% and Tier 3 at 8%, this year the Tier-wise sales distribution was more homogenous with Metro cities at 34%, Tier 1 at 22%, Tier 2 at 25% and Tier 3 at 19%.

Sandeep Komaravelly, VP, Marketing, Snapdeal.com said, “GOSF 2013 has started off with a blast on Snapdeal.com. We have seen 10x increase in sales as compared to last year. We expect to see a further increase in the sales in the next two days as well. Initiatives like GOSF act as a catalyst to further boost adoption of Online Shopping in India. In fact a lot of these new shoppers become repeat buyers and add up to the traffic on the website”.
