Knowledge Event of 2ND Bihar Innovation Forum (BIF II) held at Patna

New Delhi, India, January 31, 2014: Knowledge Event of 2ND Bihar Innovation Forum (BIF II) was inaugurated in Hotel Maurya at Patna on 30.01.2014 which was attended by eminent persons including officers of the State Govt., WB officials, experts and panel members for discussion on various sectors, innovators, JEEViKA officials and SHG members coming from different districts of the State.

Development commissioner cum Chairman, BRLPS, Alok Kumar Sinha inaugurated the event. He hailed the efforts the organizers of events in identifying proper indicators like scalability and adaptability etc. He also hailed the work being done by JEEViKA in Rural areas which not only organized people into institutions but also works towards bringing the benefits of various Govt. schemes to those who really needed it.

Earlier, welcoming the distinguished guests and gatherings, Amrit Lal Meena, Principal Secretary Rural Development Department said that organisation of BIF II had been envisaged as a result of the success of BIF I which was organized by JEEViKA in 2007. During this, some good innovations were identified and partnerships had been established with five organizations which led to brilliant results.

Elaborating the visions and strategy towards the organisation of the event, CEO of JEEViKA Arvind Chaudhary said that tremendous response in Road Shows organized in 11 major cities in different locations of the country and huge numbers of online applications that were received, assured us of huge interest of innovators in this event. He also hoped that as a result of this event, some good partnerships with innovators would be established leading to intensive effort in Livelihood enhancement.

Vijoy Prakash, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department- who is also the member Secretary of State Innovation Council, Bihar said that since early ages Bihar has been land of innovations where first Republic was born. Primary innovative efforts of the State and its people led to the discovery of Zero and many Arithmetical Formulae. Its contribution towards Astronomy has been invaluable. Besides, Bihar has been the birth place of a number of religions & cults and the present efforts of the organisation is expected to go a long way towards ameliorating the lots of rural people. He emphasized that it would be useful to recognize all innovations and provide support to them.

World Bank representative, Parmesh Shah said that organizing such an event is important but what would matter more would be its outcome. Establishing partnerships and providing required supports to innovators toward the scaling of the innovations for well being of the rural masses would be crucial and ultimately measure the success of the event.
