3rd July 2013 | By Mouseworld Now Correspondent |

New Delhi, India, July 3, 2013: Polycom, an open, standards-based unified communications and collaboration (UC&C), today announced that India’s second largest crude oil producer, Cairn India Ltd., has selected Polycom RealPresence video collaboration solutions to enable seamless connectivity with project sites, offshore oil rigs and customers overseas. The high definition audio and video technology has enabled Cairn India to speed critical decision-making and improve team meeting experiences throughout the company.

Cairn India is primarily engaged in oil and gas exploration and production, producing more than 23 percent of India’s crude oil. With several teams spread across multiple project sites, including most in remote locations in India and overseas, the ability to collaborate on mission-critical projects is part of the daily business operations for the company.

With increased collaboration between corporate headquarters and teams and operations in isolated sites as a major requirement for Cairn India, Polycom’s open, standards-based, secure video collaboration solutions is one of the key factors in Cairn India’s decision to partner with Polycom.

Cairn India deployed Polycom video collaboration solutions, including the Polycom HDX 8000 room system and a Polycom RealPresence Immersive solution – Polycom Open Telepresence Experience (OTX) – at the company’s head office in Gurgaon, New Delhi, and at various operational sites across the country, to enhance the company’s existing UC environment and collaboration capabilities. Polycom OTX solutions deliver stunning HD quality and clarity for truly lifelike across-the-table conversations that improve productivity, decision making, and business continuity. The complete solution is powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform software infrastructure, providing Cairn India with asecure, scalable, reliable and interoperable video collaboration solutionthatprotects their existing IT investments; dramatically reduces time and costs spent on travel; and makes enterprise-grade video easily and securely accessible to authorised personnel whether they’re mobile, remote, or on-site.

Polycom video collaboration solutions are now considered the complete alternative to travel for Cairn India, given the remoteness of and vast distances between the project sites and the daily team collaborations required, including liaison with suppliers, and real-time communication with stakeholders in India and overseas.

Alok Anand, Marketing Head, India & SAARC, Polycom, said, “Polycom video collaboration solutions interoperate with the industry’s broadest range of communications platforms and applications. Our commitment to open standards protects Cairn India’s investments by ensuring backwards- and forwards-compatibility and driving user adoption by integrating video into the company’s existing work processes.”

Cairn India will also look to implement Polycom RealPresence video collaboration solutions on mobile and tablet devices for senior management and sales teams, for business continuity, customer relationship management and remote inspection purposes.
