New Delhi, India, September 26, 2013: Broadcom Corporation, a global iplayer in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that Panasonic has chosen Broadcom’s 3G smartphone platform for its new Android-based T21 smartphone.

Based on Broadcom’s unique “two-plus-two” architecture, which includes two central processing units (CPUs) and two vector processing units (VPUs), the BCM28145 intelligently balances power and performance to deliver an optimal user experience.

With a 4.5 inch high-definition screen, 8-megapixel back camera, and one gigabyte of RAM, the Panasonic T21 smartphone is powered by the BCM28145, which is optimized to support the latest Android Jelly Bean Operating system (OS). In addition to two CPUs and two VPUs, the baseband also includes a globally proven 21.1/5.8 Mbps HSPA+ modem. With VideoCore multimedia support, the platform enables advanced 3D user interfaces and high-resolution video and camera functionality. Broadcom’s complete platform approach integrates cellular baseband processors with its wireless connectivity technologies including dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM and multi-constellation GNSS location support.

Rafael Sotomayor, Broadcom Vice President, Product Marketing, Mobile Platform Solutions, said, “Broadcom’s design momentum continues to grow in India’s rapidly expanding entry-level smartphone market. Our collaborations with Panasonic deliver affordable smartphones with advanced smartphone features, helping more consumers reap the benefits of mobile technology.”
