New Delhi, India, January 29, 2013: Acer has revealed that Chromebooks sold better than Windows 8 based computers. Acer has disclosed that it has got a strong response from the market for its Chromebooks using Google’s Chrome operating system.

Jim Wong, President, Acer, said, “Windows 8 itself is still not successful. The whole market didn’t come back to growth after the Windows 8 launch, that’s a simple way to judge if it is successful or not.”

“You saw that all the marketing and promotions were not as broad as Windows 8, so to reach this success is encouraging,” said Wong.

Wong also added that one of the reasons for Chromebook’s success is simply because Chrome is more secure than Windows 8 and it adds value.

Back in November 2012, Acer launched C7 Chromebook at a price of $199. Later, Acer had come up with another C7 Chromebook with model name C710-2605. Acer had worked on the shortcomings on the first model and has added 4 GB of RAM along with 500 GB of hard disk of space and battery of 5,000 mAh. The new C710-2605 Chromebook is priced at $299.99.
