New Delhi, India, January 29, 2013: Dassault Systèmes, a 3DExperience Company, in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, has released that it has sold two million licenses of its SolidWorks 3D design software, and that the 3D ContentCentral community registered its one millionth user, confirming the strength and engagement of the SolidWorks users. Dassault Systèmes also released the introduction of My.SolidWorks, a new free service that aggregates company and community knowledge. These milestones were officially released at the 15th annual SolidWorks World event taking place from January 20-23, 2013, in Orlando, Florida.

Powered by Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the SolidWorks 3D design software application has significantly evolved over the last 20 releases, with new innovations that help advance engineering while meeting consumer demand and design needs. Customers, who design a wide range of products, from the miniature, complex designs of Franc Mueller watches to the massive space vehicles designed by SECorp, rely on SolidWorks to bring their ideas to life.

Manoj Mehta, Country Manager (India & SAARC Operation), SolidWorks, Dassault Systèmes, said, “In a globalised economy, 3D design is emerging as a new engine of economic and industrial growth. Engineering design and breakthrough innovations which makes physical prototype redundant is playing a pivotal role in accelerating the growth of evolving/emerging industries especially in India. It is not only helping them in being competitive but to also create intellectual properties. Building on this, today we have surpassed our past records by offering our two millionth licence of SolidWorks 3D design software in addition to registering our one millionth user at the 3D ContentCentral community. This day marks a significant milestone for the company, and we look forward to many more achievements as we remain committed to transforming the way the world designs – from the coolest gadgets to innovations that deliver a better, impactful tomorrow”

Bertrand Sicot, CEO, SolidWorks, Dassault Systèmes, said, “In three short years, the SolidWorks community has doubled in size, growing from one million to two million users. This milestone, along with the achievement of one million users on 3D ContentCentral, demonstrates that SolidWorks users are active, passionate, and collaborating online every day. As custodians of the community, we’re passionate about helping our customers create, innovate and design the best products possible. My.SolidWorks will help our users better leverage the energy and knowledge of the community.”

Janine Essex, Senior IT Leader, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Bosch, said, “Since 1999, SolidWorks has been one of Bosch’s top resources for delivering higher quality, more innovative products to our customer faster. With a 15-year working relationship, partners can get complacent, but it’s clear that SolidWorks never gets comfortable and always finds room for improvement. Designers and engineers are constantly striving to improve their projects, and it’s only fitting that SolidWorks embodies the same desire in the software helping to create products that impact the world.”
