In an exclusive interview to Mouseworld Now, Mr. Eric Yang reveals his business priorities, plans and much more. Here are the edited excerpts…

 

Q.  Would you please brief us about the range of products? How different are they compare to similar product in the market?

Ans: Edimax is a pure networking product manufacturer from Taiwan. We have vast range of products but in Indian market we focus on SOHO & SMB product line which includes vast range of routers, W-Fi adaptors, IP cameras, switches etc. Our products and features are inhoused designed and manufactured which gives us the edge against products available in the market.

Q.  Which amongst them has been best received in the market?

Ans:  Edimax was the pioneer in launching the first 3G routers in India and till date this product acceptability is extremely good for the brand. Besides 3G router, we have complete range of IP cameras with Plug-N-View cloud based feature. This product line also kept the brand ahead of the competition in its category. Edimax have the widest range of Wi-Fi adaptors in India.

Q.  What are your plans for the current year?

Ans:  Edimax plans to find growth opportunities by looking at different new untapped channels like LFR, E-commerce. Aligning of new channel partners and launching latest technology products for Indian consumers.

Q.  What is Edimax’s growth rate in the last two financial years? Where would you like to peg your growth figure five years from now?

Ans: Edimax has grown at around 150% Y-o-Y. In five years time we should have complete PAN India presence with more Indian market specific product profiles.

Q.  How do you plan to tackle competition?

Ans: Healthy competition is good for the market and industry. However, when one brand wants to take over every pie it becomes unhealthy. We have never entered into that unhealthy mode. We have always tried to balance the product profiles with our product quality. We maintained up to the mark service policy and created a healthy channel structures.

Q.  What measures do you take to keep your channel partners happy?

Ans: Channel partners are your eyes and ears in the market. They provide the support by ensuring that your brand reaches to resellers or retailers. It is of utmost importance to work closely with them and lend a ear to understand their challenges and provide them solutions. Edimax channel partners have been very consistent and have always worked on long-term relationship. In long-term relationship we understand each other’s needs and thus mutually grow in the market.

Q.  What is your broad market strategy for India for the next couple of years?

Ans: Edimax is already present in India for over 4 years now and we have made quite a decent penetration into the Indian market. In the years to follow we intend to create better presence, tie-up with more channel partners, promote higher-end technical products and last but not the least man-power presence in every market.

Q.  Would you please reflect upon your range and type of clientele?

Ans: Edimax have always been dedicated to SOHO market so our clientele could range from first time internet users to advance internet users. Our IP camera is well accepted in the IP Surveillance channels, SI and smaller installers have shown great maturity by suggesting our Plug-N-View cloud based solutions to SMB users. The users in-turn have appreciated the simplicity of the set-up and application in their Smart-phones and gadgets.

Q.  Which zone contributes the highest in terms of sales turnover?

Ans: Edimax looks to be present in PAN India but currently we are very well placed in North & West, with both the zones together contributing around 70% to our revenue.

Q.  Your message to the Channel community…

Ans: Healthy channel creates healthy business environment for both the brand and industry. We will always work towards this principle of tie-up with like-minded partners who are ready to create that kind of environment for the Edimax brand.
