Interview with Gopi Kandukuri, President & CEO, Saxon Global, Inc.

As the Founder and CEO of Saxon Global, Inc., Gopi Kandukuri is responsible for strategic direction and growth of the company. His responsibilities include establishing company-wide strategic goals as well as guiding and collaborating with the senior team to define and execute business and marketing strategies. Gopi also drives the company’s international business expansion, strategic alliances and partner development.
With over sixteen years of experience in technical and leadership roles, Gopi has worked for companies such as Citibank, American Airlines, Mary Kay, Microsoft and Verizon. His strong leadership skills has helped SaxonGlobal grow into a leading outsourcing services provider dedicated to helping partners and customers focus on their core competencies, improve quality of delivery, accelerate time-to-market, and increase profitability by taking advantage of globally dispersed development teams. In an exclusive interview to Mouseworld Now, Gopi shares his plans and visions for Saxon Global’s Forward move in India as well as outside the country. Here are the edited excerpts…
Q. What makes Saxon Global unique?
Ans. Saxon Global is a niche player in integrating the efforts of the SMAC (Social, Mobile, and Analytics & Cloud). The people, process & technologies are aligned towards this and does not engage in the general application development but works at higher end of spectrum in adding value to the core business applications. Our Solution accelerator in each of these areas is demonstration of our competency to quickly deploy solutions and help customers ROI with quick turnaround.
Q. Which business segment is the highest grosser for Saxon global — Business Intelligence, Mobility, Big Data or Cloud?
Ans. Business Intelligence, Mobility, Cloud and Big Data is the current order of stack of our revenue streams but we are positive of in the next few quarters all of them will be equal contributors.
Q. Which industry verticals have you been targeting for your growth? Any plan to foray into newer verticals in future?
Ans. The current strategy has been to play to our strengths and to repeat the success stories with other customers in the verticals of Fast Casuals, SCM (Supply Chain Management), Healthcare & Energy. The other verticals where we are building our capabilities include Financial Services, New Age Media & Manufacturing.
Q. Saxon Global has been making continuous investments in creating proprietary IPs for providing custom specific solutions, how has it benefitted your clients?
Ans. We are using the proprietary IPs created for customers to get jump start in technology implementation, reduce their total cost of ownership and above all helping them make the right choice to align with their business goals and roadmap.
Q. Saxonglobal.com site recently added the Enterprise Mobility Solutions section post the recent acquisition of Wit Innovation. Would you please detail us on your operation in the Enterprise Mobility Solutions space?
Ans. The acquisition itself came at right time for the organisation as the industry was moving towards embracing Mobility in a big way as the demand from customers soared in the recent years. Mobile Device as a key touch point for the customer and as the new computing device made it compulsive for the Consumer Business and other corporates to include Enterprise Mobility as key strategy initiative in shaping the future business. SG is nicely poised with competency in developing consumer facing apps and productivity enhancement applications on all leading platforms such as Android, iOS & Windows.
Q. Your partner list boasts of names like Microsoft BI solutions, Salesforce.com, Oracle, Tableau, and Splunk. How have you been able to leverage these partnerships?
Ans. We are a consulting organization and probably we would like to remain that. By this it means we will play role of reseller or SI role lesser and use these partnerships for benefit of our customers. We largely remain technology agnostic without enforcing any one of them and rather in most cases we do a POC with multiple tools to demonstrate the value and performance of each of them, thereby helping customer make the right choice.
Q. What constitutes your key market strategy in India? This is of importance from editorial point of view.
Ans. We have not been shy of the Indian market as the organisation has history of serving some well-known names in the Indian Industry for Analytics & Enterprise Mobility. We are also confident that with Big Data and cloud initiatives gaining momentum in the domestic market it will also present us with better opportunities to serve. We being cognizant of our size and growth plans are identifying the right size and areas to engage.
