Prior to his current position as Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer and Industry Group Head at Happiest Minds, Salil was with MindTree for 4 years as the Chief Strategy Officer/M&A and held P&L responsibility of an Industry group. To MindTree, Salil had bought his 12-long years of experience in the United States working in various software product firms. The industry veteran’s accomplishments include growing a new product to US$30 million in revenue, successful market positioning of multiple products, handling global marketing for a US$300 million business and multiple M&As. 

In a power-packed exclusive interview to Mouseworld Now, Mr. Godika bares open the various factors driving IT business in India, the competitive advantage of Happiest Minds, Happiest Minds’ core focus areas, it’s maverick online strategy, channel network and much more. Q. Please brief us about your operations at the national as well as global level?

Ans: We have 1150 people. Our geography coverage includes 16 cities, 8 countries and 4 continents and we cater to 70 customers.

Q. How far the spokes of global recession impacted your growth in FY 2012-13?

Ans: It has not impacted us and the key reason being enterprises introduce transformative process and applications to accelerate future growth and technology is the bedrock to make that happen.

Q. What constitutes your key global marketing/ India strategy? Do you plan any significant business expansion in near future?

Ans: We will continue to focus on disruptive technologies and entrench deeper in the regions that we are already present in.

Q. Recently, Happiest Minds’ paper on “A novel methodology for handling Document Level Security in search based Applications” was shortlisted in the top 50 papers of Lucene/Solr Revolution 2013. Your comments…

Ans: We are happy that we were shortlisted and our presentation was well received. A recognition like this from our peers in the industry is a testimony to our thought leadership and IP-led approach. We are doing extensive work in big data and analytics, and this is one of our core differentiation area.

Q. Happiest Minds have partnered with Datawind, the makers of Aakash Tablet PC. What is the nature of this partnership? Can this be read as an effort by your company to explore the domestic market further?

Ans: Happiest Minds has unparalleled expertise in disruptive technologies. Happiest Mind’s Product Engineering Services (PES) group builds world-class software and hardware products and solutions for sectors like consumer electronics, automotive, e-commerce and many more. Datawind is known for its robust yet low-cost platform UbiSlate. This strategic partnership builds on the core strengths of both companies to deliver best-in-class solutions. Happiest Minds’s PES Group will develop cloud-based applications and solutions on the UbiSlate platform, creating a complete mobility experience for Datawind customers. The Datawind Appstore is the first joint initiative developed under this partnership. Both the companies will also look to cater to health care and education sectors with affordable mobility solutions.
