Amazon to launch Kindle tablets in India from June 27
New Delhi, India, June 15, 2013: Amazon today announced that Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ will be available starting June 27 on Amazon.in for customers in India. Kindle Fire HD 7″ will be available at a suggested retail price of 15999 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ will be available at a suggested retail price of 21999.
Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ has an 8.9-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, is 8.8mm thin and weighs 567 grams. It doesn’t support a SIM card. It comes in 16/32 GB storage variants. The tablet has a 1.3MP front facing camera and compromises on a rear-facing camera. It has the TI OMAP 4470, a Dual-core 1.5GHz processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and the PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
Kindle Fire HD has 7-inch IPS LCD display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution. The tablet is 10.3 mm in thickness and weighs a mere 395 grams. It is available in 16/32 GB storage variants. The tablet also has a 1.3MP front facing camera and no rear-facing camera. The Fire HD runs on Android 4.0 ICS, has the TI OMAP 4460 chipset, Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and the PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
Starting June 27, Kindle Fire will also be available at over one hundred retail outlets across India including Croma, Reliance Digital, E-Zone and Vijay Sales stores located in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Pune.
