Google Plus crosses 90 million users landmark
New York, USA, Feb 08, 2012: Social networking site ‘Google Plus,’ which is Google’s answer to Facebook, has crossed the 90 million users mark since its launch in late June.
Google Plus attracts over 90 million users now. The huge traffic indicates the kind of interest the social networking site has managed to garner within a short span. Google Plus was opened to the public on September 20. Earlier, Google Plus service was available only through invitation as part of its trial runs.
The 90 million users mark makes it clear that the user base has more than doubled since October.
While announcing Google’s latest quarterly results, Google CEO Larry Page revealed: “I am super excited about the growth of … Google Plus, which now has 90 million users globally well over double what I announced just three months ago. By building a meaningful relationship with our users through Google Plus we will create amazing experiences across our services.
While Facebook took four years to reach 90 million users. Google Plus has managed to clip-clop the distance within just seven months. Google has been aggressively promoting the product, adding toolbars and other buttons on its websites.
However, Facebook still stands tall with an 800 million plus user base and way ahead of its rival.
Google had launched ‘Google Plus’ in late June to gain a share of the huge social networking space dominated by Facebook.
