Amit Sardana is a post graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and has 20 years of extensive experience in
the development sector, particularly in project management, sustainable waste management and change management. He is the
Managing Director of dataserv APAC Ltd. which is a part of the dataserv Group. dataserv Group is a leading global organization providing full e-lifecycle services, encompassing secure, sustainable and ethically customized recycling solutions, for nvironmentally responsive recovery and disposal of IT assets.

Electronic waste, also known as e-waste, is one of the fastest growing waste segments in India. Rising levels of disposable incomes combined with increasing rates of obsolescence, and the subsequent up-gradation of electronic products at more frequent intervals are driving the demand for electrical and electronic products, which in turn is leading to greater e- waste generation. E-waste in India has been growing at the rate of about 13 percent in the last two or three years and is currently estimated to be over 1 million tons. Presently only about 5% of e-waste is recycled each year in the formal sector, owing to the lack of a proper collection, management infrastructure and lack of awareness. The presence of a large informal sector in India further complicates this system, posing serious challenges in creation of clean waste channels.

As a chairman of recycling forum of MAIT, Amit Sardnana will play a key role in addressing the issues of the recycling fraternity through dialogue and interactions with the stakeholders i.e government bodies (MOEF, State PCBs), bulk consumers and manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment.

Executive Director at MAIT Anwar Shirpurwala said, “We are glad to announce Amit Sardana’s appointment and under his expertise guidance, I am sure MAIT’s Recycling Forum will achieve new milestones”.

Amit Sardana said, “I am honored to take on this role with MAIT and look forward to helping Indian hardware companies adopt
a focused approach at pioneering concepts, addressing issues and overcoming emerging challenges of e-waste in the country. I look forward to the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the sector.”
