Making the most of Nadella’s India visit

Microsoft CEO SatyaNadellaBANGALORE, Sept 21, 2014: Microsoft CEO SatyaNadella will be making his first visit to India later this month, according to a Times of India report. Nadella’s visit is second of the two high profile visits by top global IT honchos to India. Google’s head of Android, Chrome and apps Sundar Pichai was in India just two weeks ago.

Nadella reportedly will take part in two events organized in Delhi by Nasscom on September 30. He will also attend a Microsoft event that will discuss how to ensure more participation of women in technology.

Nadella is also slated to make a visit to his home town Hyderabad. But authorities in different states are getting ready to make the most of Nadella’a visit.

Nadella may meet newly formed Telangana’s Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his Hyderabad visit. Both CMs are ready to woo Nadella to ensure IT growth in their states.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, a known patron of the IT industry is keen on seeking Nadella’s spport in further developing the IT sector in AP.

Microsoft has plans to expand its activities in Hyderabad. Nadella’s visit will be of help to the government in this regard.
Telengana’s software exports are pegged at Rs 57,000 cr for 2013-14. Hyderabad is a major IT hub with over 1,200 IT companies, with 3.5 lakh employees. After Nadella became the CEO of Microsoft, AP’s IT Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah had extended an official invitation to him to visit the State.

Chief Minister Naidu too had extended an invitation to Nadella to visit AP. It was Naidu who had invited Bill Gates to Hyderabad and persuaded him to set up Microsoft’s centre in Hyderabad.
