Nokia launches Urdu-compatible Nokia 114 in India at Rs 2,579
New Delhi, India, September 13, 2013: Nokia has launched its dual SIM Nokia 114 mobile phone in Indian market.This is the first launch from Nokia after its handset business was sold Microsoft early this month. To get a pie of the Urdu-speaking users, struggling Nokia has launched this dual-SIM budget phone. Nokia 114 comes with Urdu language capability and is priced at Rs. 2,579.
According to Nokia, Nokia 114 is the first ever phone with Urdu language option in India. The new device with Urdu language option comes with cloud-accelerated Nokia Xpress browser experience. It allows users to consume less data by up to 90%, by compressing websites in the cloud.
Nokia India Managing Director P.Balaji, said, “We were the first mobile company to support content and user interface in 11 Indian languages in India. Introducing Urdu keymat in Nokia 114 is another such initiative to reach out to our consumer across the country.”
Nokia 114 provides a battery life of nearly 10 hours. Equipped with Dual SIM feature, the phone features Easy Swap technology. This enables users to switch between SIMs quickly. The Easy Swap technology personalizes and can remember up to five different SIM cards.
Nokia has already introduced regional language content in 11 Indian languages: Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Punjabi, and Marathi. According to the company, it’s the first company to introduce an in-house app called Akshar for the Asha Touch range of smartphones. Akshar supports 11 Indian languages.
India is home to one of the largest Urdu speaking population in the world. This is likely to benefit over 15 crore Urdu speaking people in India.
