Oracle bets on India to drive Cloud growth story

Oracle CloudWorld New Delhi saw a battery of new customer announcements, product announcements and expanded sales ecosystem from the software giant. CloudWorld New Delhi offered a unique platform for senior Oracle executives, customers and partners to discuss how they are driving business transformation using the Oracle Cloud.

Addressing the audience through a live webcast, Oracle Corporation President Mark Hurd re-inforced the company’s global cloud strategy which is to offer choice and flexibility to customers with the most comprehensive, modern, and secure portfolio of cloud products and services.

The keynote sessions at the event also covered Oracle’s strategy and road map for social, modern marketing, Customer Experience (CX) and Human Capital Management (HCM) on the cloud.

In India, Oracle Cloud has seen a wide range of usage by enterprise organizations. Organisations across industry verticals such as e-commerce, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom, IT/ITeS, real estate, foods & beverages and media have been using Oracle Cloud for a myriad of business applications. A lot many business applications such as talent management, recruiting, modern HR, sales automation, customer service, modern marketing, product development, modernizing finance and back-office functions has been performed using Oracle Cloud.

According to Forbes, two-thirds of Indian CIO’s are expecting the majority of their information technologies to run on the cloud by 2015.
Oracle Cloud has found resonance with top corporates in Indian Industry. Enterprise organizations such as Airtel Learning, Apollo Hospitals, Jabong.com, Intel, Aditya Birla Management Company, Maruti Motors, Hero MotoCorp, BigTree Entertainment, Sonata Software, Myntra.com, Kalpataru, NetApp India, Adobe Systems, Haier, Thomas Cook, Nature’s Feast and Sudhir Gensets have recently embraced Oracle Cloud.

Oracle PartnerNetwork members in India have also joined the Oracle Cloud sales ecosystem. Already more than 80% of Oracle’s business is generated through partners.Further reinforcing its engagement with partners, Oracle has roped in frontline partners like Wipro, Accenture, Cap Gemini, Cognizant, L&T Infotech, HCL Technologies, CCS, Virtuos, Hexaware, MarketOne to remarket and implement Oracle Cloud solutions in the country.

“India is an important market for Oracle and the growth of our cloud business here has been unprecedented,” said Oracle India Managing Director Sandeep Mathur.

“Cloud adoption has gone mainstream. We are already one of the leading cloud software companies in the world, and will be investing heavily in building this business in India,” added Mathur.

Worldwide, Oracle Cloud continues to show strong adoption rate. Oracle Cloud supports 9 million users and 19 billion transactions each day, running on 7,000 servers and 200 petabytes of storage in 13 Oracle data centers, claims the company.
