Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro Launched in India

xiaomi-redmi-note-5-proNew Delhi, India, 15th Feb, 2018: After drumming for about a month, Chinese company Xiaomi launched its Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro Smartphones in India on Wednesday at an event in New Delhi. The company also debuted into the television market by launching the Mi TV 4 series of televisions in India. Launched as Flipkart exclusives, apart from and the Mi Home retail stores, the highlights of the new Xiaomi smartphones is the presence of the large 5.99-inch 18:9 display, the selfie-light module, as well as the large 4000mAh battery.
Dubbed successors to Redme Note 4, Both Redmi Note 5 smartphones have similar specifications. Among the differences are a dual rear camera setup on the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and a high resolution front camera. The company promises to release a Face Unlock feature by March with an OTA update.
The price for Redmi Note 5 in India starts at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant, and goes up to Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant. Redmi Note 5, which is almost similar to the Redme Note 4, other than its display size, comes in Black, Gold, Lake Blue, and Rose Gold colors. Other than Flipkart, Mi Home, and, the smartphone will be available for sale soon through Xiaomi offline retail partners.
The smartphone also packs an ultra-slim case. There’s also a Jio cashback offer of Rs. 2,200 and 100 percent additional data on the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones to sweeten the deal.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 runs on MIUI 9 based on the old version of Android – Android Nougat. It sports a 5.99-inch full-HD (1080×2160 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 450-nit brightness, 84 percent NTSC colour gamut, and 2.5D curved glass.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is powered by a 2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with the Adreno 506 GPU and 3GB/ 4GB of RAM. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2, a 1.25-micron pixel size, PDAF, EIS, and an LED flash module. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel front shooter.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price starts at Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM, 64GB storage variant is listed at a higher price of Rs. 16,999. Like the Redmi Note 5, the Redme Note 5 Pro will go on sale from February 22 – and will also be available via Flipkart, Mi Home, and It will also be available at Xiaomi’s offline retail partners. In terms of launch offers, it packs the same offers as that of the Redmi Note 5.

The dual-(hybrid) SIM Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro also runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. It too sports a 5.99-inch full-HD (1080×2160 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and 2.5D curved glass. Powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC and an Adreno 509 GPU, it comes in 4GB and 6GB of RAM variants.
Xiaomi claims this device to be the first device in the world with the Snapdragon 636 SoC.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes with a 12-megapixel primary sensor sporting an aperture of f/2.2 and a 1.25-micron pixel size, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and 1.12-micron pixel size. The dual rear camera setup is equipped with an LED flash module. The phone comes with 64GB storage – expandable via microSD card – and weighs 181 grams.
