With the devaluation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar, there has been an upheaveal in the entire Indian business world. IT industry being the face of business excellence in India has also been party to the fiscal commotion. To record the perspectives of the poster-boys of Indian IT on the vital issue, Mouseworld Now has started this series.

In this part, Mr ASukumaran P, General Manager – Alliance has expressed his expert comments on the vital issue facing the IT industry because of the rupee devaluation in the international market. Here are the edited excerpts…

“The Rupee’s downward slide is going unchecked though the Union government is doing everything in its armory to stem the downfall.  The immediate reaction by the hardware brands would be to correct prices upward moderately, however they might defer the decision to announce it as much as possible.   The impact on the IT industry will be more profound in the third quarter of this fiscal year as increased prices will see deferred purchase by consumers and corporates.  Though the slowdown will dampen the morale of the market, they should now think of innovative ways of wooing the consumers with some aggressive EMI schemes on the lines of what some big mobile brands successfully launched interest free schemes recently. This is also the right time for brands to think of setting up manufacturing in the country to mitigate the effects due to surging dollar. “
