Samsung Regains No.1 Slot from Xiomi in Smartphone Market Share in India

New Delhi, July 26, 2018: Smartphone superbrand Samsung has managed to regain its no.1 rank as the leading player in the Smartphone Market in India. According to a report by market research firm Counterpoint,
Samsung elbowed out Xiaomi to claim the top spot in the country in Q2 this year.

The report reveals that the smartphone market sprang back to its double-digit growth and clocked a growth of 18% year-on-year. Based on the figures in the report, Samsung achieved 29% market share in the country.

The South Korean tech firm achieved 5% more than it did in the same quarter last year. However, Samsung was closely followed by Xiaomi that clocked 28%. Last year, the Chinese tech firm had achieved a massive jump in Sales. It captured 16% market share in Q2 2017 according to Counterpoint.

Samsung and Xiaomi were followed by Chinese smartphone brands Vivo, Oppo and Honor at third, fourth and fifth spots, with 12%, 10% and 3% market share, respectively. While Honor moved up from 1% in Q2 2017, Oppo stayed flat with 10% and Vivo dropped by 1%. The remaining 18% market share was captured by other brands.
