Sankalp-Forum-Director-Aparajita-AgrawalMumbai, March 18, 2014: Sankalp Forum, an Intellecap initiative that recognizes and supports innovative, sustainable, high impact social enterprises, announced 20 volunteers to support its annual global event – the Sankalp Unconvention Summit.

The Summit instituted the Volunteer program to integrate more youth and variegated perspectives from different geographies. A leading common action platform that aligns the Global South and the Global North, the Sankalp Unconvention Summit attempts to make itself more democratic, more interactive and more collaborative.

Sankalp Forum builds an enabling ecosystem for early-stage businesses, channels impact investments, and engages over 11,000 stakeholders globally through collaborative year-round initiatives. Close on the heels of a successful expansion in to Africa earlier this year, Sankalp Forum continues to reach more international markets and further its regional deepening in India.

The first Sankalp Volunteer program garnered 149 applications from 16 countries. It accepted 7 entrepreneurs, 5 mid-career professionals, 6 post-graduates and 2 undergraduates from various backgrounds like social entrepreneurship, law, finance, architecture and consulting among others.

Sankalp Forum Director  Aparajita Agrawal said, “It makes me extremely happy to see that our first Volunteer initiative has been so well received. The endeavor has delivered on our objective to get global talent to experience entrepreneurship and witness how the international development community comes together to discuss & solve grassroots issues. To receive such an overwhelming response for this program is a great ratification of this.”

The Volunteer program was open from Jan 15 till Feb 10 and saw participation from countries like USA, Portugal, Cameroon and Dubai to name a few. The Volunteers will support the organizing team with outreach and content development. Each of them has committed 5-10 hours per week prior to the Summit and 20 hours over the three days of the Summit.
