San Fransisco, USA, May 31, 2018: Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has forecast that global smartphone sales would hit a slowdown in the current year before picking up momentum, riding on new 5G networks and India’s vibrant market.

As per the latest IDC Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone sales are expected to slip two-tenths of a percent this year to touch a total of 1.462 billion. If this happens, then this would be for the second consecutive year that the sales of Smartphone would be on a slight decline.

However, IDC forecast is optimistic about the smartphone market. The research firm said the market would reignite next year, clocking nearly 3 percent solid growth annually to total 1.654 billion in the year 2022.
