SMS packs costly for Idea, Vodafone, Airtel users

10th January 2013 | By Mouseworld Now Correspondent |

New Delhi, India, January 09, 2013: Telecom companies, Videocon, MTS, Tata Teleservices and Telenor were directed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to shut its services after 18 Jan in India.

And as new players have left the market, the top telcos in the country seem intent on making use of this opportunity and hike their tariffs, similar to what Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) did, thereby making it a nightmare for all the prepaid and postpaid users in the country.

New range of tariff hike extends to SMS also. Recently  – Airtel, Vodafone and Idea (A-Vo-Id) hike their SMS value packs upto 400 per cent.

While previously Airtel, Vodafone, Idea charged Rs 44, Rs 47 and Rs 44 for 3,000 SMS pack but now the telcos are charging up to Rs 153 for less than 3,000 SMS packs. These reported tariff plans on SMS packs are already available in Kerala region and we imagine similar suit will be followed across all circles in the country.
