Wipro Smart Lighting Conducts Unique Experiential to Showcase Their Products Portfolio

New Delhi, India, 20th Feb, 2020: Wipro Lighting and Switches organised a unique experiential activity which offered an interactive journey of their expansive product portfolio. For the experiential, Wipro roped in Tech Guru Rajiv Makhni to demonstrate the various functional aspect of their products and how they empower a consumer to build a smart home.

The company is expanding its smart lighting business to offline retail. Earlier the products were  exclusively available on Amazon India. Now, the company plans a big push into offline retail as well. Wipro’s Smart Lighting division has also expanded its product line-up.

“Our smart bulb was the number one smart bulb on Amazon India. Wipro commands over 50 per cent market share in smart lighting on e focused only on an e-commerce platform but now we have started going in offline as well. Initially, we are targeting towns with a population of more than 10 lakh. By September-October this year, you will see a lot of our products in the retail chain,” says Sanjay Gupta, Senior Vice President & Business Head, Consumer Lighting & Switches, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting.

From a smart bulb introduced in October 2018 to a full range of lighting and smart security solutions in December 2019, the company walked a long product ramp.

Wipro smart lighting offerings ranges from smart bulb and batten, which are WiFi enabled to smart panel and smart COB which works on Bluetooth Mesh technology. All the lighting products are white turntable. They offer nearly 16 million colour options and are dimmable. The products supports voice commands and can be controlled from anywhere using the Wipro App. Other than these, the smart home security system from Wipro’s product stable includes the Wipro smart camera, smart doorbell, smart socket and smart extension with four smart plugs and two USB ports.

“Over the last three decades, Wipro Lighting has combined technology and innovation to provide cutting edge solutions to consumers. Wipro pioneered LED range, smart lighting, in India. Our key focus is to lead and revolutionize the smart lighting market” adds Gupta.

Currently, the share of smart lighting to Wipro’s lighting business stands at 3 per cent. “By FY 2020-21, this should climb to 15 per cent of the total business,” hopes Gupta.

In recent times, smart lighting has gained a lot of traction amongst consumers since it is much easier to control a bulb from an app or using a voice command. The colour-changing option offers flexibility and the option to increase or decrease brightness helps in energy saving.

Other than the smart bulbs, which have been the most popular among users in the smart lighting category, the smart COBs that can be fitted in the false ceilings have seen a good rise in demand.
