FOTA update for ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ASUS ZenFone Max M2.

images_(8)  New Delhi, Feb 1, 2019: ASUS has announced a new FOTA update for its recently launched handsets ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and ASUS ZenFone Max M2, barely one month after it the Smartphones in December 2018.

 

Priced fairly aggressively, both phones aimed to give tough competition to other entry-level and entry-to-mid level phones from other brands. While the Asus ZenFone Max M2 quoted ₹ 9,999, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 was available for ₹ 12,999.

 

ASUS has released FOTA updates for both the phones. The ZenFone Max Pro M2 will get an update to the new FOTA version 15.2016.1901.186. In the update, users can expect support for AI camera scene detect and an upgrade of Touch Screen Firmware. The FOTA update will also improve the front camera quality and improve system power consumption. Due to the update will also help upgrade Google security patch for January 2019.

 

ZenFone Max M2 will get a new FOTA version 15.2016.1901.156. The update will help upgrade Google security patch for January 2019. It will also provide camera support AI Scene Detection, help update and optimize Camera System, besides updating and optimizing the Android  System.

 

According to an ASUS release, the current FOTA will be pushed batch by batch.

 

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 have some notable differences between them -  design as well as specifications other than the price points. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 quoted Rs. 12,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage variant, going up to Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant, and Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant. The cheaper of the two, the Asus ZenFone Max M2 was priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage variant, going up to Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant.

 

While the ZenFone Max Pro M2 came in Blue and Titanium colour variants, the ZenFone Max M2 had Blue and Black colour variants.

 

Both Asus ZenFone Max M2 and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 run on stock Android 8.1 Oreo, sport dual-SIM slots, and a dedicated microSD card tray. Both  sport 6.26-inch displays.

 

While the Asus ZenFone Max M2 is powered by a Snapdragon 632 SoC, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 has a Snapdragon 660 SoC. While both the devices offer 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage options, only the ZenFone Max Pro M2 has 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variants.

 

Likewise, while the Asus ZenFone Max M2 packs a 4,000mAh battery, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 has a bigger 5,000mAh battery.
