Edimax unveils USB dual-band adapter – AC1200
Bengaluru, India, May 07, 2013: EDIMAX Technology, a provider of advanced network communication products, has launched EW-7822UAC wireless USB adapter, setting a new global standard for Wi-Fi adapters with a device that is the first and fastest of its kind in the world. USB 3.0 support means that next generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds can truly be realized, enabling consumers to upgrade their existing PC or laptop’s capability to run at the fastest available Wi-Fi speeds. A new benchmark in wireless networking – the EW-7822UAC represents Edimax’s continued commitment to advancing and accelerating consumer Wi-Fi technology, and is the first step towards an 802.11ac “5G” Wi-Fi future.
The EW-7822UAC supports USB 3.0, the newest specification of the USB standard which specifies a maximum data transmission speed of 5Gbps. Approximately 10 times faster than the current USB 2.0 standard which specifies a maximum speed of 480Mbps, USB 3.0 is undoubtedly the future of USB connectivity and is set to be universally adopted across the technology industry. In other 802.ac adapters, data rates can be limited by USB 2.0 technology – the Edimax EW-7822UAC though presents USB 3.0 with blistering speeds for consumers to enjoy the fast, reliable Wi-Fi that their devices demand.
Dual-band connectivity delivers better performance and provides greater flexibility for consumers and their Wi-Fi devices. The 2.4GHz frequency band is ideal for routine web browsing while the 5Ghz frequency band, with less interference and more channels, is better suited to data-intensive applications such as video streaming and online gaming. The EW-7822UAC provides dual-band connectivity for the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band giving users freedom to benefit from the best of both worlds.
