MediaTek quad core solution empowers Micromax A116 Canvas HD

New Delhi, January 22, 2013: MediaTek, a fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, has launched its quad-core MT6589 smartphone to hit in the Indian market. Micromax has selected the MT6589 to power its latest smartphone, A116 Canvas HD.

Spec:
The new quad-core MT6589 System on a Chip (SoC) integrates MediaTek’s advanced multi-mode (SoC) integrates MediaTek’s advanced multi-mode UMTS Rel. 8/HSPA+/TD-SCDMA modem that can support up to 42/11Mbps (Rel. 8 HSPA+), a power-efficient quad-core Cortex(tm)-A7 CPU subsystem from ARM, PowerVR(tm) Series5XT GPU from Imagination Technologies, and is delivered in 28nm process technology. As a leader in Dual-SIM technology, the MT6589 makes it possible to receive calls on both the SIMs concurrently due to its Dual-SIM, Dual-Active functionality. The chipset solution manages to deliver all these premium multimedia capabilities with extremely low power consumption. The MT6589 also supports multi-screen content sharing through Miracast technology and pre-integrates MediaTek’s leading 4-in-1 connectivity combo to support 802.11n Wi-Fi, BT4.0, GPS and FM Radio.
