Nokia-Lumia-1020New Delhi, India, September 27, 2013: Nokia today unveiled the Nokia Lumia 1020. Boasting a second generation 41 megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), Nokia Lumia 1020 reinvents zoom, enabling people to discover more detail than their eyes can see. With Nokia’s innovative PureView technology, the device is able to produce some of the sharpest images delivered by any digital camera.

This is possible due to leading hardware technology combined with a new application called Nokia Pro Camera, which makes it easy for anyone to take professional quality images. Either before a picture is taken or after it has been shot, the zoom capability enables people to shoot first and then zoom later to discover and rediscover stories that contain more detail than the eye can see. With a beautiful interface that visually demonstrates how settings will affect the final photo or video, Nokia Pro Camera simplifies features usually reserved for professional cameras and teaches people how to take better photos.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is also the most versatile digital camera available. Its unique dual capture feature simultaneously takes a high resolution 38 megapixel image for endless editing opportunities, and creates a 5 megapixel picture that is easy to share to social networks with Windows Phone 8.

P. Balaji, Managing Director at Nokia India, said, The response to the Nokia Lumia range in India has been extremely encouraging. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is a stunning device with imaging capabilities like no other smartphone. We believe it will further strengthen Nokia’s leadership in imaging, which today plays a pivotal role in the lives of consumers.”

Vipul Mehrotra, Director – Smartphone Devices, Nokia India, Middle East and Africa said, “Consumers are increasingly demanding a high quality smartphone camera that they can rely on to capture and share their lives. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is the first smartphone that not only matches but exceeds many standalone digital cameras for quality, ensuring people always have the perfect picture, whether that’s day or night. With the Nokia Pro Camera app and the 41 megapixel sensor, it boosts creativity and makes it easier to shoot, edit and share pictures of unrivaled clarity.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 also captures blur-free videos with stereo sound even at the loudest concerts thanks to Nokia Rich Recording, which handles sound pressure levels six times louder than conventional smartphone microphones.

Adding further professional capabilities and additional battery life, Nokia also announced the new Nokia Camera Grip. This is an accessory that complements device features usually reserved for stand-alone cameras, like the Nokia Lumia 1020’s built-in xenon flash and mechanical shutter.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in stores across India starting October 11, 2013. Nokia will offer, in association with New India Assurance, a year-long complimentary insurance cover at all leading stores. All Nokia Lumia 1020 owners and prospective consumers will also have dedicated support from trained Nokia Lumia 1020 experts on the Nokia Careline.

Both the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Nokia Camera Grip will be available in yellow, white and black.
